mukcyen is a Tokyo-based womenswear brand founded in 2024 by Yuka Kimura. Its name derives from “mù cūn,” the Mandarin pronunciation of the Chinese characters in her surname, Kimura. Intentionally abstract, the name gains meaning through the brand’s evolving history and culture.
Guided by the philosophy “Embrace your complexity,” mukcyen transforms contradiction, vulnerability, and difficult emotions into inner strength. Its design language contrasts a second skin that gently follows the body with armor that supports, protects, and redefines it.
Key pieces include skin-comforting second-skin cut-and-sew tops and structural corsets featuring asymmetry and wraparound forms. Primarily using Japanese-made fabrics, approximately 70% of its garments are sewn in China and 30% in Japan.
